Take Action

Plan to join the WNY Delegation of the CWA District 1 Political Action Committee on Tuesday, September 14th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to discuss our legislative priorities for 2022 and the General Election on November 2nd. Location TBD. We can best serve OUR members when WE are informed and educated in Community/Political Action, as well as organizing and representation. Pre-registration is required.

Thank you, Hon. Timothy J. Meyers, Erie County Legislator 7th District, for honoring the St. Joseph Campus for Sisters of Charity Hospital's COVID Unit as Citizen of the Month for July 2021.  CWA Locals 1133 and 1168 thanks these dedicated and selfless healthcare workers!  

The WNY CWA Council’s E.J. Mays scholarship fund will be offering 10 scholarships of $1,500 each to a CWA member, child, grandchild or spouse from a participating local in the WNY CWA Council. The 2022 E.J. Mays Scholarship application is now available on the council website: Again this year there is also a fillable form that applicants can complete and email without having to print anything. Paper applications are also available at the Local. Please return completed applications to the Local for your verification. Deadline for application submission is November 9th, 2021.  

Labor Day Parade & Picnic, September 6th, 2021

Parade begins at noon at Dorrance and McKinley, down McKinley to Red Jacket Pkwy, and into Cazenovia Park.  A picnic lunch will be served.  Live music, face painting, balloons – a family friendly event!  Volunteers and marchers are needed!  Call Terri @ 828-1133 or email [email protected] to register.

For people who are prevented from working solely to be in quarantine, the following progression will apply: ESL, PTO, then regular wages. The only exception to that would be people who travel despite the ban Catholic Health just put in place and then get quarantined as a result. Those individuals would be required to use PTO and then go without pay.
