Summary of Revised COVID-19 MOU

June 6, 2020

 

Hazard Pay

Hazard Pay for Mercy and Kenmore Mercy shall be paid in the amount of $10 per hour differential. 

The pay will take effect on Sunday, June 7, 2020 as follows:

  1. Employees who spend less than half of their shift providing care or ancillary care to COVID-19 patients or PUI shall receive hazard pay for half of their shift.
  2. Employees who spend at least half of their shift providing care or ancillary care to COVID-19 patients or PUI shall receive hazard pay for their whole shift.
  3. Employees assigned to swabbing in the tent shall be paid hazard pay for the duration of their shift.

The above shall cover inpatients, outpatients, and ED patients. It is understood that asymptomatic patients being screened are not considered PUI for purposes of this section. It is understood that if an asymptomatic patient’s test comes back positive, employees who provide care or ancillary care shall receive Hazard Pay as per a & b above.  Each Emergency Department shall have a contact tracer document for COVID-19 known positives, PUIs, and patients who have had the COVID-19 swabs.

Extra Shift Pay

The Extra Shift pay will be eliminated.   Anyone who has signed up for an extra shift as of June 6th (for the month of June) will still receive the additional pay.

Attendance and Tardiness

Attendance and Tardiness Policy will resume.  The Hospital has committed to staffing the doors appropriately and will grant five minutes extra time if the door is not staffed appropriately.

Screening Work

Screening continues to be temporary bargaining unit work that will be offered to members who do not have work or for additional shifts that will not incur overtime.

Employees Volunteering at SJC

There still continues to be a need for RNs at SJC.  Moving forward, they will be asking employees who would like to work at SJC to have Dual Employment.  Over the next few weeks, employees who would like to continue to work at SJC will have to apply for either Part-Time, Weekend, or Per Diem positions in order to continue to pick up shifts and will be consider Dual Employees.  Please see Section B., Staffing of the MOU.

Future Changes and Duration

In the event of a significant change in the volume of COVID-19 patients, the Parties shall bargain over the effects and revise this MOU.

This agreement shall expire on 12/31/2020.

The Employer has the right to terminate the agreement should it no longer be needed.
