High Priority: Shift Differential

The Union is in the process of resolving outstanding grievances related to the implementation of the new shift differential language in 2022. This issue was further complicated by the Kronos downtime last year.

In order to resolve the grievances, the Union and the Hospital will be manually reviewing individual Kronos records and schedules of employees.  See below for details the old contract language and the new language that went into effect April 25, 2022.


Old Shift Differential Language

-Evening shift differential hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and night shift differential hours are 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., or any permanent partial shifts scheduled during those hours (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

-Shift differential will be paid when an employee works at least four (4) or more hours on the premium shift.

-Current employees in the Operating Room (OR) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) where the employee's regularly scheduled shift overlaps the evening shift, shall receive shift differential for time worked in the second shift.

New Shift Differential Language

- Evening shift differential will be paid for all hours worked between 3:00pm and 11:00pm.
- Night shift differential will be paid for all hours worked between 11:00pm and 7:00am.
