Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage

The Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) program is a New York State program for seniors administered by the Department of Health. It helps more than 325,000 income-eligible seniors aged 65 and older to supplement their out-of-pocket Medicare Part D drug plan costs. Seniors can apply for EPIC at any time of the year and must be enrolled or eligible to be enrolled in a Medicare Part D drug plan to receive EPIC benefits and maintain coverage.

  • What it is: A New York State program administered by the Department of Health that helps seniors pay for prescription drugs.
  • How it works: Provides co-payment assistance for Medicare Part D-covered drugs after a deductible is met, and also covers many drugs excluded by Medicare Part D.
  • Who it's for: New York residents who are 65 or older and have an annual income below specific limits ($75,000 for single individuals or $100,000 for married couples).
