CWA members and retirees from Locals across New York City came out last night to support City University of New York (CUNY) workers in their fight for good contracts and a stop to tuition hikes.
CUNY faculty and staff have been working without a contract or salary increase for more than six years. Meanwhile, Governor Cuomo plans to cut state funding to CUNY by $485 million despite a $1 billion state budget surplus.
Tuition at CUNY has increased 38-45% since Cuomo took office.
